Keep it

You know what shouldn't be taken for granted?

Innocence

Once you lose it, it's gone.

Lucky for us, it makes it's appearance  more than once.

Once I was in High School. Talk about innocence. A Whole lot of innocence there. Lessons that weren't recognized until much later, and many more lessons to come. A whole world undiscovered.
Then one night I packed up and went to college.
I left behind friends, but I held on tight to the innocence of the world that we had shared.

There's many types of innocence.

Innocence of a new student.
 Innocence of a first kiss.
 Innocence in our deepest fears.
The innocence of a date with a great friend

  Innocence Ignorance in poor planning
Innocence in the unknown.
Innocence of the young & reckless
  Innocence of the helpless
Innocence of a sleeping baby
Or the innocence of a big sleeping baby

Innocence from the judgement of others
Innocence in hopes and dreams
The innocence of this fly, before I killed it for it's cool metallic skin
 Innocence of the wrongly accused
 Innocence of the future
Innocence of the person behind this camera and the image they saw after the water cleared..... and my something was missing.

It's everywhere.

Without our innocence we are ravenous, vicious, judgmental people. We fight so hard to grow out of our innocence. We think it's a bad thing. We push until we are independent and we strive daily to be self-thinkers and trend-setters. But really, our innocence is what makes us unique. It's the thing that we should hold onto the strongest.

Anyway. My point is this. No thing is really bad. Dr. Seuss and Walt Disney were pretty much happy all the time, so why can't we be? So my friends,

 hang in there!

be safe
stay cool

LIFE IS GOOD!

I'm out of ideas for a good blog. What do you want to hear about?

01 November 2012

super negative post on Life is Good.

Getting offended is a weird thing. It's weird because we chose to be offended. We chose our own feelings. Taking offense literally means that WE are TAKING offense. Dumb, right? Why would we ever chose to feel this way? But it's true!

The only other time I've felt this hurt by someone was earlier this year when a total stranger threaded to call the cops on me..... loooong story short; she was horrible. Every time I had an interaction with her I just felt completely exhausted and sad. It wiped me out just being around her. She seemed to be so engulfed in anger and malice all the time, as if she had never experienced the opposite. That experience definitely brought out the worst in me. This time around I'm not that upset. But I am hurt, and it is a weird feeling for me. I'm not fond of it.

The worst part is that I've been defending this person. I've been standing up for them and telling people that they're actually a great friend. I was being 100% honest, too. I really thought that they were good, and genuine, and that people just didn't see them for who they really were. But it turns out that everyone was right when they told me that I was wrong.  It really sucks. I wanted this person to be good. I really wanted them to find the life that they hoped they could have. I still hope that maybe they can have that life. That maybe they really are a good person. I know they could be if they wanted to be. The part that really hurts me the most is that they aren't who I thought they were. It makes me sad. Not for myself; for them. I wish they'd just do what I know they know is right. Talking to them makes me so frustrated because I know that they are better than this. It makes me want to wave at them; and not necessarily use all of my fingers!

I guess I typically get along with everyone, so having people treat me badly or disliking me takes me by surprise. Last month all the Turtle Bay employees were threatening to go on strike. Every day I'd go to work and find that the level of hostility and negativity had sky-rocketed. When word got out that I didn't support the Union (or at least that I didn't support the strike), it all went downhill. People immediately lost respect for me. I was a scab. It's remarkable that one day you can be friends with someone, laughing at everything and anything, and the very next day they won't even look at you.

Anyway, back to offense. I'm not free of error. I definitely brought things to the table that I shouldn't have.  I guess it's just easy for me to feel like the victim because, at least in this situation, I really did all I could to make things work. I respected this person and trusted them. I made decisions based off agreements that I made with this person. And now that those agreements had been broken -- those decisions were shot to heck.  I had to completely re-adjust everything and figure out a new plan.

Jorey showed me this song a little while ago. It's funny because during the first 43 seconds I felt really guilty. But just wait... it comes around.

Not unfortunate.
Funny.
And really bad.
But it made me laugh.
Well. There you have it. A super negative post on a Life is Good blog.

This won't be happening again.
