"me"

What is it about the human race that makes us want to please everyone? At least this is how it is for me. I think of this a lot, mostly when driving in my car. Typically i'll be listening to something loud, it could be anything but normally it's whatever is popular and on the radio. When I pull up to a stoplight I look around and see who's around me. Every time, if it's an elderly person, I roll down my windows and turn to my jazz station. This way they will think I'm a nice, respectable young adult. If it's a middle aged adult, I turn on my mix CD with the classics. Abba, Queen, things that I love but don't listen to everyday. Then they don't think I'm a loud annoying teenager, but a person who still enjoys the classics. If it's a boy, attractive or not, I keep listening to my loud music and continue to dance and sing along. If they like what they see, then my job is done. If they don't, well then that's that! They're jerks and I know not to waste my time with them. On the road anyway. Like should I cut them off to get to my exit, or not... . If it's a girl, I roll up my windows, turn my music way down and just sit there. I don't like girls, and I know that when I see a girl putting on lipgloss in their rear view mirror it makes me cringe. So I do all that I can to separate myself from them. The less they know about me, the better. SO why do I do this? Am I the only one?
I was going to a job interview today so I had one of Gwen's fancy shmansy outfits on. I looked good and professional, and I loved it! I went to grab some lunch and walked around showing off how grown up I am. Then I stopped by a jewelry store where I'm getting a ring made. I felt like I was making a good impression. When I got home I took Jet out and he wanted to play so badly that he picked up a dead leaf and dropped it at my feet to throw. So cute! So I got his ball and took him for a walk. When I was walking/throwing the ball I felt dumb for not wearing something more relaxed. Suddenly I felt like a stuck up high class business woman taking her dog for a quick 5 minute walk before her next phone conference call.
These feelings never come to me when I'm wearing something I love. Something that's "me". I love dressing up nice, and I love going to the store in PJ's. But unless I'm "me", jeans and a T shirt and my Vans, I feel weird. It's not good to pretend to be who you're not. We should flaunt who we are! Be proud of who we are and what we stand for. I hear people talking about problems in their life dealing with friend drama and such. Every relationship will have it's problems, obviously. But it seems to me like we waste so much time working on a relationship that simply doesn't fit. Trying to be in a crowd we don't fit in. Well, seems to me there is no "normal" in the world. There's a type and style for each and every one of us. SO team! Let's find our group and stick with it! "Maybe some people should be around your entire life, and others should just make an appearance."-Greek.
All this from a single day in a single outfit. Oy! Haha! Life is good!
