Something extremely exciting happened last week! I have been an RA for about 2 months and just last week I finally got my name-tag! Ok, so maybe I built it up a bit too much. But to me, getting a name-tag is big potatos. I'm thrilled! You see, there's this movie called Wayne's World that I've loved since I was a kid and I have always been inspired by it. (Yes. Inspired. Wayne is a very logical, intelligent guy. The movie has a lot to offer, not to mention Garth's magnificent hairstyle.) Ok, so here's the scene:
Being an RA is a joe-job. Same with Chickfila, Kumon Reading Writing Center, Northwest Door, Gelato Premio, and the Lone Tree Golf Club Hotel and Resort. But we all need joe-jobs to get to our career! I've been pretty lucky in all of my jobs. I've enjoyed all of them! Some more than others, of course (I would NOT mind one little bit never going back to 5:30 am - 2:00 pm shifts at the Hotel. Frick. Who can live like that?!?) but all-in-all I've been really blessed to have jobs where I was challenged, had great co-workers, learned a lot, and where I could help other people. This will definitely be one of those jobs. Even with it's challenges, I'm loving it! Some days are rough, and there's always the unfortunate 67.5 hour-week like last week..... "unfortunate" seems like to kind of a word in this situation. But I have great co-workers, a sweet and encouraging boss, and opportunities every day to serve and help people. And NOW I also have a shiny, official, legit, boss, freakin' cool name-tag!
You're just dying to see it, aren't you?!
I won't give all the details quite yet because I'm afraid I'll change my mind, but I've been trying to plan out what I want to do with my next year of schooling. I think I've made up my mind but I still have some things to look into and I want to talk to Andres about a few things too.
So be waiting for that! I'll announce it soon!
I get frustrated when people are so wishy-washy with their education/work and you run into them and ask "Oh, how are you?! How are those Biology courses going? And that Economics class, you liking it?" and they look at you blankly and then say "What?! I dropped those months ago! Yeah, I'm gonna major in Theater Production, with a minor in PETA support." Yeah, wishy-washy people are confusing.
So I'll let you know as soon as my mind is made up! I am super excited with what I have planned out so far and I hope it all works! After all this crazy learning stuff is over and done with I can finally enter the "Real World" that I keep hearing terrible things about. I can't wait! And then I can dress up nice and wear a shiny name-tag every day!
Life is grand!
