Beautiful Colorado

Well, I'm finally getting that long and much wanted break!

There's a moment when you're walking on the outdoor bridge in between terminals at the Honolulu Airport.  You stop.  Look around.  You can feel and smell and taste the warm, humid, tropical Hawaiian air.  You inhale deeply.  Then you exhale determinedly and say "goodbye!" and walk through the terminal doors to the air conditioned cave that awaits you, that will lead you to a plane, that will lead you to some place far away that is indeed not Hawaii.  I absolutely LOVE this moment because I never say "goodbye", I say "Hasta Luego!  See you soon!".

I got to do this last Friday night as I made my way to Colorado for a quick 6 week break.  It was terrible timing having all my friends returning from their summer breaks while I left on mine, but I was able to see everyone I wanted to and say hellogoodbye to many wonderful people.  But it didn't matter because in a few weeks I will be right back with them.  Cassie, Kortney, and Chris drove me to the airport.  On the way someone suggested we stop at the Marine Corps Base and get Dairy Queen.  I said that I didn't want to because it is a very hard-to-come-by treat in Hawaii and I was waiting to go home and get it.  Then Chris looked at me dully and said "So... we're not going to get the best treat on earth... because you want to wait till tomorrow... to get the same thing somewhere else?"  He had a very valid point, so we got DQ! I loved spending some time with them before heading off.

Said a quick goodbye, checked my luggage, ran to the gate (which just so happened to be THEE furthest gate in the entire airport.  I promise, I checked a map!)  and got there just in time to board.  I have this bad habit of falling asleep at the gate and almost missing the flight anyway, so running late is probably the better option.  I only had to take 2 ridiculous flights instead of the normal 3 completely ridiculous flights.  Only sat next to one weirdo, so that was nice!  Watched a good movie.  Took a little nap.  And now I'm back in Colorado!!! And holy cow, is it Bee-ee-ay-utiful here.

Jet dove all the way into the bushes and dug around for awhile.
He came up with a tiny piece of stale bread.
Little spaz.

Life is good!

I hate it when you say hasta luego and you don't even come to my bridal shower.

Come back to Hawaii already!
