Slacklining is the coolest thing I've ever done.
No joke. I'm completely 100% all the way positive that slacklining is THE COOLEST thing I've EVER done.
Only downside... the soreness that followed.
I haven't felt this shaky since I was an infant learning to walk. When I sit down for an extended period of time, it takes about 10 minutes of walking before I can stand up all the way. And even then I look like something from Planet of the Apes, skulking along.
They kept telling me "Emily, take a break." and "Emily, you're insane." and "It'll take practice, Emily." To which my response to all of that was "Pish Posh. Let me do my thing!"
I did my thing. For an hour straight Iwalked attempted to walk that line.
And now I'm in more pain than ever before. I wasn't this sore after hiking Stairway. Or after backpacking. Or after snowboarding or wake boarding all day. Or after an 8 hour dance-a-thon. Or after anything I've ever done in the last 20 years. I could have never predicted this! 28 hours later and it still takes all my effort to stand up or climb onto my bed. I'm the definition of pathetic.
So do you want to know the coolest part? Of course you do. You want to know how good I was at it. I'll tell you. To put it into comparable terms, I walked approximately 15 centipedes long! Or 20 apples!! Or 50 Dragonflies!!! Or 1000 Ants!!!! Or.... about 4 feet. Do I feel success? Meh. Do I wish I had done better? Of course! Am I going to someday be the best slack-liner in the world? Definitely.
For those of you who don't know what slacklining is, don't worry. I didn't either until Monday afternoon when I youtube'd it. Turns out I had seen it before, I just didn't know what it was called! I'll educate you.
