friend [frend]

noun: a person that sticks with you no matter what.

I love that I have this in Emily Hermann.  We talk about three times a year. Tonight was one of those nights!  Now there are only two more to go this year, and that is slightly depressing.  Anyway, back to the point.  She is that friend that sticks around no matter what.  I could demonstrate this with a myriad of examples, but I think that one will suffice.  It happened tonight.  We were talking on the phone and I was telling her how exciting it is for us to be in relationships at the same time.  I said,

"Not that we have bad timing or anything.  I've been in relationships.  But you're a heartless wench." (because she has never actually dated anyone)

to which her response was "HAHAHAHAHAHA!"  I love that I can say anything to her and not offend her.  And I love that we're both in relationships. And I love that from now until we're both married every conversation will start with,

"I have news!"  "Are you engaged?"  "No!!.... wait, are you?" "No!"

As if there is no other possible news good enough to justify a phone call. Tonight I called and told her  that I don't like when pistachios have such a small opening that you can't crack them.  That is riveting enough, in my opinion.  It's no diamond ring, but it sure a pistachio.
