bring on the heat

Today was the first official day of summer.  I really love summer.

Today I watched the 5th and unfortunately last game of the NBA Finals.  Heat VS. Thunder! I've never been into sports... because I suck at all of them.  Watching them always seemed dumb because I couldn't play any of them.  And going to them is expensive.  However I learned in the past 2 weeks that I really enjoy watching basketball.  A lot.  Today's game was super impressive on the Miami side, and super disappointing on the OKC side.  It was a GREAT game though.  Hands up for LeBron and Durant;  freakin awesome out there today!!

Can a person's smile get any bigger? I doubt it. 

Today you get to meet Tyson. We pretty much have an awesome time no matter what we're doing.  I'd go so far as to say that he's fantastic! He and his brother are living here for the summer with their friend Jorey (who is in my ward) and we've all been hiking, eating Kahuku Grill non-stop, watching movies, quoting movies, going to North Shore, playing Settlers of Catan, beaching, and hiking some more.  

Today (and the past few) Tyson's been sick.  The other's went and adventured to town today (and it really was an adventure, we'll get to that next) to drop Jorey's sister off at the airport and play around. Tyson and I decided to stick around at home and relax. I can't say I regret the choice to stay home; it was marvelous! 

Today I learned that cars suck. More importantly, I learned that there is some major bad luck going around. Two days ago whilst heading down North Shore to meet up with everyone we saw Jorey's car on the side of the road.  We pulled over and figured out what needed to be done, but decided that the car was still too over-heated to do anything right away. Fortunate enough to have taken two cars, we jumped into mine and journeyed on down to Mililani and had an excellent day.  That evening we went back to discover that his car was in more trouble than we thought, so we went to the hot tub at Turtle Bay while we waited for the Tow-Truck to get there.  We saw Luke Wilson at the pool, so that was cool! Nothing like hangin' out with the Godfather. Anyway, one car down. Then today, since Jorey's car is now out of the question, they took my car to town.  I was only joking when I said that I was worried it would break down. Well... my car is in some shop in Honolulu. Two cars down. They got a rental and finished their day in town, and then came back to Hauula. I've been holding onto a friend's car keys since he's off-island this summer, and he's agreed to let me drive it while mine is in the shop!  Super lucky, right?! I went to his house tonight to pick up his car and it was completely dead; wouldn't even turn over. Three cars down. Hopefully we'll get his car jump-started tomorrow, and then we'll be back to 2 cars down.  But... 2 is still pretty gosh darn bad.
