Well, it's happened. We all knew that it would, someday. I personally just didn't think it would happen so fast. And I definitely didn't think I'd feel so unprepared the day that it finally happened. But, regardless of my fears and concerns, I can't help but know that this is the right thing to do. Sure, it changes the course of events. Sure, it isn't exactly my first choice, or even second or third for that matter. But clearly there is a larger plan in the works.
Ladies and Gentleman
I have been given the Liebster Award.
You see, the reason that it came as such a surprise is because never have I ever heard this word in my life before ever. "Liebster". Clearly I was intrigued. So I did some further research with the help of my friend Aria over at threeofalucky7, and learned that:
Liebster is a German word meaning sweetheart, beloved person, darling, dearest, etc. It also means boyfriend, but since I'm a girl and I don't have a boyfriend, I'm gonna go ahead and remove that from the list.
The "Liebster Award" is given to bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
This award comes with a few rules.
Liebster Award rules:
1. Post 11 things about yourself2. answer the questions the nominator made for you3. create 11 more questions for the blogs you nominate3. choose 11 people and link them to your post4. go to their page and tell them, tooWell ok.
Things About Myself
1. I was born on a snow-day (you're welcome, students of 1991)
2. I'm super funny.
3. Sometimes, most of the time, when I listen to a song I have an idea for a music video running through my head. Maybe I should go into cinematography? Maybe not.
4. Doing things like this (Liebster Award) make me feel weird. My inner girl is released and I'm not sure what to do with her. All I want to say are things like
5. I super miss my long hair
6. I don't like shopping, but I am very picky with what I wear
7. I'm scared of post offices and banks
8. I'm also scared of deep, open water and long tunnels through jagged, death-threatening-no-return mountains
9. Maybe this is just a way to cruise through this "11 things" section
10. Maybe I just really don't know what to say
11. Ha, look! It worked!
Questions Aria Gave Me
1. Do you like your hair up or down (may be substituted for long vs short)? Long. Down. Cutting my hair was by far the biggest mistake of the last 2 decades.
2. If you knew you could not fail, what would you do?
Have 15 kids. If I couldn't fail.... then that would just be so, so, so fun!
3. What actor would you like to play the lead romantic role in the story of your life?
Rachel McAdams. I mean, come on. She's wonderful.
4. Do you ever get lost?
All the time. Except, I have a very keen sense of direction, so when I'm on the wrong street I at least know that I'm on the wrong street. And I know what way to go to get out.
5. What is your favorite kind of toothpaste?
..........
6. Right.....*now*......are you happy with where you're going?
Absolutely! Of course there are always things in life that will get you down. But I am confident in my plans and I am happy with the direction I'm going!
7. If you could live in a foreign country......
I really hope to someday live in a foreign country! Only, it wouldn't be foreign if I was living there. It would just be "home". I'd love to live all over the place! At least 3 different places, with different cultures and beliefs. I want to be able to understand people better. But you can't get that unless you open yourself up to becoming one of them, and really allowing their ways to become your ways. There is so much to be seen in this World! I want to see as much of it as I can!
8. Did you watch the Presidential debates?
No. I watched bits and pieces of all of them. But I became so unimpressed with the election and the tactics they were using. It made me not want to vote for any party.
9. What is the one thing that you are best at?
People tell me I help others a lot. I guess I'm good at that! I like knowing that the people around me are happy and taken care of. If there's something I can do, and I have the means to do it, than I want to act on that. I enjoy taking care of people! I look forward to the day that I can care for my children, and be cared for by someone.
10. If you could re-live a day in your life, which would it be and why?
This one took some thinking. I wouldn't want to change anything in my life, so if I were to re-live a day I'd want it to be a really good one! To be honest, I can't chose one day. But I can chose one moment. It was July 22, 2009, the day that Andres went to college. Early in the AM we left all of our friends sleeping/watching Dark Knight and we drove up the dirt road to Daniel's Park in the bleak, dawn light. We sat on the back of my Red Corolla wrapped up in my yellow monkey blanket that Andres had made me for Christmas 2008. We laid there in silence and watched that red fire-ball slowly peak over the flat plains of Eastern Colorado. We watched the sharp light spread across downtown, and then over the suburbs, and finally over the bluffs and onto our little spot on top of the hill. It was the most amazing sunrise I've ever seen. The colors were SO vibrant, red and orange and yellow.... it was incredible. I don't remember what we said. I don't know that we said all that much. I do remember that I cried a lot. Later, from Hawaii, Andres sent me a letter and mentioned the lyrics from a 3OH!3 song.
"And if I had something to say to you I'd whisper it softly
Kiss you on your rosy lips and never let you off me
Shiver on your roof and see your face lit by starlight
Hold you through the night and watch the Colorado sunrise."
11. What song would you like sung at your funeral and who would sing it?
At my Grandma's funeral we sang How Firm a Foundation and I loved it. It's such a strong song with an even stronger message! Especially the last lines of the last verse; "That soul, thou all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never, no never, I'll never, no never, I'll never, no never, no never forsake!" It's a very good message to leave behind. So I'd pick that song, and everyone there would sing it. That, or "Party in My Tummy" by Yo Gaba Gaba.
