I've attempted to start my own blog several times, but never got around to the actual blogging part... which is a problem. But with my last weekend being so insane i decided to begin now! So here goes!!!
Chapter 1: the trip
So the HRHS choir took a trip to Grand Junction for a choir festival. We left thursday after school. The drive up was so much fun! And i'm glad... no overjoyed to announce that there was no group singing, and there was no High School Musical! (i talked to our teacher and asked him to ban all high school musical movies and Twilight from being played on the bus). We arrived and as we were finding our rooms at 11 o'clock an old hispanic man came out of his room. Apparently two girls knocked on the door next to his and he thought it was his. He yelled at us and in his funny accent said that he "did not spend 100 dollars a night to hear us run up and down the hallway and a bang on his door!" ... oops! luckily i was just standing there doing nothing at the time of the upset. So i was innocent! The next morning we performed, and we got all superior ratings (ones) and our judge gave us a lot of good tips. We began our long trip home. We were scheduled to arrive home by 10:00 friday night. However the fantastic colorado decided otherwise. As our tour bus with 39 girls plus parents made the journey back to the Ranch, the highways closed! yaayyyyy, so we were stuck in the mountains. We spent another night in lovely glenwood springs! Though there wasn't ever any snow, we were "snowed in", i thought that was comical. It rained the whole time, and i couldn't help but walk around in the lovely rain!!! All in all, it wasn't that bad that we got stuck. The next morning we were hoping to leave around 5 am, but the highways were closed. Panic started to kick in as all prom-goers (prom was that night) began to realize we might not make it to prom. But we finally got on the road and took off at 10:45. Rachel and i kept time, and it was over an hour before we even saw snow. lame. About 45 minutes down the road.........
Chapter 2: the chaos
....our bus broke down! Let me tell you, we were all just so happy! Turns out the bus wouldn't shift and therefor wouldn't accellerate. Which is a problem. We puttsed (is that a word? it seems to fit...) along the shoulder of the highway for a ways and then finally stopped in a city i think was called Avon, i've never heard of it. There was a car with two parents that had followed us the whole time, and so our director (doty) asked how many girls had prom. there were 13 of us total, and only 2 seniors. There were only 6 open seats in the car, however. I immediatly jumped up and ran outside to tell doty that rachel and i needed to be in that car. Our hair appointment was at three, and it would just ruin the day if we missed our hair appointment! haha, so we got on. It took awhile to get going again, but in time the car of 6 made the trek back to the Ranch, for the third time. We frantically made calls and arranged everything for prom (once again, Andres, I'm really sorry for being such a jerk to you). With everything almost figured out, we could do nothing but sit and wait! The roads were only bad for awhile, and there was very little traffic as a whole. We were blessed to make it back in only 3 hours! And don't worry, we made it to our appointment! 40 minutes late, but we were there!
Chapter 3: prom!
After the hair was done we made our way back to my mom's house, even though she wasn't there we thought it was very kind of her house to let us get ready there! we did make up and then the boys and some parents came to take the dreaded photos. When i'm a mom, i will get a fancy cannon camera and i will take away all other camera's from the other mom's, and my children will have one set of great pictures where everyone is looking at the same camera! it's maddness i tell ya! Most eveyone in the group had cool shoes on. Andres had green plaid DC slip on's and i had neon yellow/green/blue/orange/white Tiger shoes. The pictures turned out great! Everyone looked so lovely!!!! Instead of a restaurant we did a Progressive Dinner. Starting at the Redford's where we had appetizers, we then made our way to the Ellsworth's for the main course which was yummy chicken and rice and veggies. After that we went to the Larsen's (annie larsen isn't mormon, but wanted to "go with the mormon group!" so we found her a date!) and had a fondue dessert. It was all ammmmazing!!! Now it was time for Prom! Brave Grant drove us all down to the D.U. cable center where prom was held. We made sure to have a lot of fun, and we once again made the mormon-center in the middle of the dance floor by pushing all the nasty grinders out of our way. It was a blast! And our shoes made it all the better!
After-prom was fun. I made andres do the blow-up obstacle courses over and over again just like last year. He had shorts on so he kept getting rug burns, but i guess i'm heartless because i kept making him race me! There was a mechanical bull and i was on for 7 seconds, believe me that's a lot! I never saw anyone make it to 10. I also got pretty good at Blackjack! I only made 180 dollars, but hey! it was my first time! We went to the Meza's for breakfast around 3:30, and after we ate we all layed down and watched Transformers. The night ended around 6. Luckily we didn't have church till 1! It was a very fun night, and i'm so glad i got to spend it with all my amazing friends!
