Blogs of the past!

The tree is up, the house smells like cookies, and it's finally begun to snow!!! We had our annual caroling party, which thanks to all of mom, Gwen, and Steph's hard work turned out fabulous! Everyone had a great time and the night was a great turn out! We had it earlier than normal because Gwen was in town so i wasn't able to help out as much as i would have liked. Andres' Mom called to ask for a recipe but i forgot to answer her, and when i asked Andres what recipe she wanted he said, "probably the lemon bread she DEVOURED!". He was right. She also wanted the recipe to the Date Balls, which i was reluctant to tell her what was in them but she was not at all descusted at the cup and a half of dates. She's a very strong woman!
The past week was jam-packed with choir! First monday was the Great Works concert; the orchestra played a song and my choir joined them. It was a three part classic piece called Dixit, and we've been working on it since august. It turned out great!!! Then thursday night rehearsal and friday, saturday afternoon and saturday night back to back concerts. We got to stand the whole time! haha, but it was fun. I absolutely love christmas songs! And our concert was so close to Christmas! I'm so excited!!! I currently have 2 more class periods today, then three days of half day finals and then it's winter break!

For my 17th birthday Gwen and Payce took some friends and I up to Glenwood Springs for the day. We rented a 12 seater van, which Payce skillfully drove through the snow (while lip syncing to Shakira! We saw you in the mirror!). We went to the Hot Springs and then to lunch at some pizza restaurant that a friend recommended. Not sure what it was called, but the toppings slid right off when the pizza was hot. So watch out for that! After that we went to Hotel Colorado and just walked around, got into trouble, found room 201 (ever read the book 1984?) and learned about ghosts. We wanted to stay for a fireworks show at 6 and then a personal tour of the hotel but instead we got back on the road and headed to I believe Breckenridge where we wanted to go ice skating. When we got there though there was 10 miles of a strait, extremely slow and extremely slippery road. We got stuck horizontally on the road and Mike said, "Oh no, that's not a good sign. That's not a good sign at all... we can't move." hahaha! So we stopped at a gas station and Payce went to get chains for the tires. The chains only worked for about 15 minutes before they started banging on the side of the van, so off they came and we went on. Good thing Grant and Mike were in the back to hold down the van! We got past eisenhower tunnel (unfortunately we didn't get snowed in) but that was ok. We went to Belmar to an outdoor skating rink. It was such a small rink but the snow and lights were the perfect setup for one of those cute old christmas movies. It was the perfect ending to the day! Thanks again Gwen and Payce!!!

So i'm in this "fundamentals of information technology" class. It's a total waste. I don't know any of this stuff. I signed up for this class with the intention of fullfilling my info. processing requirement, but last week i found out it doesn't. I went to my counciler and tried to drop the class, but they wouldn't let me. My counciler is all for it, but the other lady and my teacher both said no. However, it shouldn't have ended there. I found an alternate class, i've done my research and i'm SO SO SICK of this class. I don't really care anymore if i stay in this class. I'll probably fail it anyway, or get a c at the most. But the thing is, i'm a good student. I've gotten two c's my entire life. I've never had detention or been in any sort of trouble. So why don't i have the option of switching out of a class that i don't understand, don't enjoy, will bring down my gpa, and did i mention i don't understand it? At least i was able to make this blogspot during this class. GAWL! The way schools are run kills me.
