Gelato Shmelato

So I kinda fell of the blogging bandwagon this week... but I just haven't had many interesting encounters this week. I tried to watch less TV, and sleep less. Well, the first worked and the second... not so much. BUT all in all my week was pretty uneventful.

I was supposed to hear from BYU Hawaii last friday or this friday (yesterday) or anywhere in between. But I haven't heard anything! Apparently they don't update their database on a day that ends with a "y". So that's good news for me. I'm still in the lurch for where I'm going to college! JOY! Being left in the dark and clueless is so much fun.

Yesterday I was working and had a few interesting encounters. I love the things people do! So for this blog! I will be sharing my funny experiences whilst at work. Starting back with my first year at chickfila:

1) A woman goes through the drive through and orders her breakfast which is simply a biscuit combo (should be around $6) and pulls up to the window. I was the one at the window and didn't even look at the order. Just charged it and gave her her food. Turns out the girl on headset accidentally charged her for 10 as apposed to 1... Lady pays drives away content with her quaint meal and forgets to look at the receipt. She was charged roughly $60 for her meal and didn't even notice! I laughed for about an hour. There was nothing we could do! The next day the lady comes back and says "I think I was charged too much yesterday." She "thinks"??? She's not sure? Haha, I always thought that was funny.

2) Then there was the time that I was on headset and everytime the person kept trying to order there was a loud "SQUAAAAK!" sound. Finally I told her to pull up to the window to order, and that something must be wrong with our system. BUT it turns out she had a parrot on her lap... shoulda guessed. DUH emily, there's a parrot on her lap. Of course! I'm not sure why she felt the need to bring her parrot to get dinner. But she did inform us that the fruit she ordered was for her beloved bird. You'd be surprised at how many people order expensive fast food for their pets. Most common animal of choice: Bulldog. And apparently bull dogs love Grilled Chicken with cheese and lettuce. No bun though. Carb diet. Or something! That food is expensive for humans as it is! And dog food is expensive too... so why buy your dog/cat food from chickfila? OY!

3)There's always fond memories from the few times that I was the cow at chickfila. Little kids are the best! Some would sit there with a horrified look on their face the entire time, while others would give me hugs every few seconds. One time I swiped a little boys hat and skampered away. The kids all chased after me and laughed and tried to get the hat back. When I was done and waved goodbye, one of the girls started crying saying "He never stole MY hat! I really wanted him to steal my hat!!" Hahahaha. Sorry chica, you get to keep your possessions today! She's going to be a perfect target for future robbers!

4)Then we come to Gelato Premio! A man comes in, frazzled, and orders 2 waffle bowls with 2 scoops in each. I check the order with him over and over again. I also inform him that I have to make the bowls and that they'll each take 1 minute. I double check he wants the same 2 flavors in each bowl. So i make one and hand it to him and charge him while the other bowl is baking. He asks why it's so expensive (a question we get a lot) and I explain how each 2 scoops is such-and-such price and each bowl adds such-and-such price to each. "Ohhhh!" he says. I give him a receipt and say "here, you can verify it". He left with only one bowl! He only wanted one! But paid for 2! He looked strait at the receipt and said "Oh k!". And left.... hmmmm. We get a lot of frazzled people. They frantically look at all the flavors and keep changing their orders and add mix-ins and then say halfway through mixing they don't want the mix-in. It's quite fun, you can imagine!

5)Yesterday 2 girls came in and literally sampled every flavor. Then they left. They said they were full now but were going to come back later. They did in fact come back later, which was a bonus! But they each sampled more before ordering! They probably got an entire cup extra on their samples alone. Seriously? I think this makes a good idea for a social experiment.

6)Also, yesterday this couple came in that looked EXACTLY like the old guy and his latino wife in Modern Family. So funny!

I wish I could remember the truly funny things that happen. I always laugh a lot at work.

7)The other day this kid came in and I guess he knew the 2 girls in the corner cuz he asked jokingly "can you kick them out?" and I accidentally said "I'd love to!" But because they were annoying, I just have a habit of saying the thing that I think the customer wants to hear! The girls heard me and I had to turn things around quickly. I said that they had already paid, but I still had to keep him happy so he'd buy something too. They laughed, so I think it worked.

8)Last night a guy (maybe in his late 20's) his old mom, and his friend all come in. They order and I figured they were all together so I rang them up and the first guy pays. Turns out they were paying separately...oops. The friend purrs and says "hot date! your mom's even here!" They were completely strait. I figured they were gay!

Well... these aren't as funny as they are when they first happen. SO i s'pose I'll stop there. Ta ta for now!
Life is good!
