Just got back from my first post-op appointment.
The good news:
With the nose bandage off I can smile again! It's still extremely stiff and it takes a great amount of effort to get to a smile, but it's possible!
Doctor Walker said "sorry" before he cleaned out my nose and poked around in there. It didn't hurt so bad at the time but I'm feeling extra sore now that the numbing medicine has worn off. I told him about how on Saturday I was holding Jet and his head shot back and hit me right in the honker. It hurt like a mother.... would hurt whilst giving birth. I thought for sure my nose was all screwed up and they'd have to do surgery again. But luckily everything is looking good and Jet's noggin didn't jack up my face! Woohoo! Unfortunately, as is expected with every doctor's appointment, there is also bad news.
The bad news:
Doc says I have to keep taking it easy. Really easy.
It's not like I was hoping to run a marathon or break the world-record for jump-roping tomorrow, but I'm a little disappointed. It's frustrating because I don't FEEL that bad. My nose isn't extremely swollen, my face isn't very bruised, and all-in-all I feel pretty ok. As long as I'm taking the pain killers I can't drive, and I only take the pain killers when I'm about to do something or go somewhere, so there's a predicament. I can't do anything that gets my blood pressure high, which is difficult because I still get winded by walking up one flight of stairs. So that leaves me with another week of laying around watching movies and playing Monopoly Cards. Also, the bruising will stick around for another week. So for now it looks like I got in a street fight with a bully. I hope I won. And I hope I wasn't the bully.
That's all for now, kids!
Life is good.
